About Me
  
I am Carrie and I am the founder of Balance Consulting.

I originally pursued Athletic Therapy and spent 20 years in Disability Management in the insurance industry, supporting ill and injured employees in returning to work, through facilitating rehabilitation plans, developing return to work and accommodation strategies, conducting ergonomic consults, providing job coaching and supporting the resolution of workplace stressors.  

I subsequently obtained an HR certificate, which has given me a broader understanding of the corporate implications of absenteeism, turnover, employee engagement, etc.  I focused my studies on Occupational Health and Safety and have worked as an Occupational Health and Safety Officer for a large organization.

I believe that prevention and early intervention is paramount to avoiding injury and reducing absence time.  Robust  health and safety and ergonomic processes as well as attention to psychosocial stressors can prevent lengthy and costly absences as well as enhance employee retention, productivity and retention.  

I see the areas of Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resource Strategy and Disability/Absence Management as being intertwined.  Each has an implication on the other and I strive to bring it all together.

I am passionate about employees being well.  Work shouldn't hurt.  Physically or psychologically.
